Welcome to Coloring Coping
Coloring Coping started as a collection of funny observations about skateboarding—because skating isn’t just fun, it’s funny. The slams, the awkward moments, the weird in-betweens… it’s all part of it
Coloring Coping is built on the idea that humor can hold what we don’t always know how to process. It gives shape to frustration, injury, repetition, and the mental loops that come with skating—and with life. Coloring becomes the outlet. A simple, physical way to move that energy out of your body and onto the page.
Because let’s be real—sometimes you can’t skate. You’re injured, burnt out, or stuck. And that’s where this work lives.

About the Mixed-Media Art
Kristi Sanders mixed-media art that explores these same ideas.
Through illustration, materials, and visual storytelling, the work captures the essence of a place or message—where humor and discomfort overlap. The goal isn’t to resolve those moment, but to highlight them in a way that feels playful, honest, and human.
Each piece reflects the same underlying thread of outsider art with a central focus of skateboarding.
Within each piece there is often something quietly absurd— and magical.
